• Invite friends and family to join you in worshiping together.
• Provide a peaceful place and a committed amount of time so there is no rush, but rather plenty of space for worshipping and ministering to God and allowing space for Him to pour out His love and minister back to you.
• Play some worshipful music (free downloads available on this site). In the Old Testament, Elisha asked for a musician to be brought to him as he was about to go before God on behalf of the King. And the Bible says that “when the musician played, the hand of the Lord came upon him…” And whenever King Saul was troubled, “David would take his hard and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better and the evil spirit would leave him.” (1 Samuel 16.23)
• As a group, invite the Holy Spirit to meet you there.
• Read scriptures and allow the Word to wash over you (Eph. 5, 25, 26). Some of the downloadable music includes scripture reading. Otherwise, take turns reading passages at intervals.
• Don’t try to accomplish anything by your efforts (in yourself or in the others present), but let the Word work a change in you, stay until you’re soaked and saturated and leave refreshed
• “Soaking is a dedication: ‘God, this is time just for you.’ Soaking is an invitation: ‘God, do what you want to in me.’ Soaking is an expectation: ‘Thank you, Father, for what you are accomplishing as I rest in you.’” (CTF) |
